03 / 20 / 24

7:00pm

Dr. Stefano Checchi
Certified instructor BlancOne Academy

The whitening treatment of vital teeth has developed significantly over the last few years, thus becoming increasingly effective and safe thanks to new technologies and materials, and at the same time more and more required by patients in view of a more evolved focus on the aesthetics of the smile and the health of the mouth in general.

The basis of every type of successful whitening treatments is the necessary understanding of macroscopic and histological structure of dental tissues, of the factors that determine its colour attributes and the causes that lead to blemishes and discolouration, on which to intervene with different types of whitening treatments.

This Webinar aims at presenting the basic elements of the tooth structure, the factors that define the colour of the dental elements and the dyschromia’s characteristics and origins. These are fundamental aspects to be known and evaluated in order to plan and set up the most suitable bleaching mode, to make the results more predictable and satisfactory both for practitioners and especially for patients, and acquire a specific method of clinical management of our treatments.

Behind the bleaching: chemistry and mechanics of teeth whitening agents and their effects on tooth surface

During a verbal interaction with another person, the gaze focuses at eye level and at that of the lower third of the interlocutor’s face. Therefore, the smile is an important verbal and non-verbal communication tool, other than having a major social impact and contributing to an image of order and cleaniness.
Dental aesthetic appearance is related to cultural factors and different personal preferences, i.e. visual perception may be pleasant or unpleasant, and what is considered ‘beautiful’ in one country may be ‘ugly’ in another.
With the rise of social networks, people pay more attention to their image. Also, aesthetic treatments have increased considerably in recent years. Dental discolouration is a major aesthetic problem and, consequently, ‘cosmetic dentistry’ is an increasingly popular discipline in modern dental practice.
It is crucial for the practitioner to try to perform these treatments in the least invasive way possible.
Therefore, this requires us to be fully aware of everything that goes on behind the scenes of a tooth whitening procedure: chemistry, interaction with dental tissue, mechanical properties of teeth, etc.

In the last twenty years, we are witnessing an evolution in the dental field with a greater focus not only on the treatment of diseases but also to satisfying the aesthetic requests made by our patients. According to the AACD (American Academy of Cometic Dentistry), tooth whitening is the treatment of choice for treating tooth discoloration due to its ease of use, effectiveness and is considered a conservative treatment compared to other methods such as the use of crowns and veneers We know that there are several methods to carry out tooth whitening, in this webinar we will investigate the potential of take home teeth whitening in the treatment of extrinsic and intrinsic dyschromia. Take home teeth whitening is a choice considered safe, economical, easy and has a high success rate, it can therefore be defined as a gold standard of whitening treatments. Despite these many advantages, this technique has so far presented a high rate of patient dropout, very often due to the duration of treatment (more than 15 days) and the appearance of undesirable effects, first of all sensitivity and poor patient compliance. For more than a decade, BlancOne® has set itself the goal of offering effective, safe and fast whitening treatments in order to reduce the disadvantages and undesirable effects related to the whitening treatment: a mission widely achieved with in- office treatments. With the same purpose, it has created a BlancOne® Home+ whitening product with the aim of solving the main problems related to home whitening by offering to dental practitioner and the patient a safe, versatile product with a significant reduction in treatment time. In this webinar, through the discussion of several clinical cases, the mechanism of this new type of take home teeth whitening treatment will be illustrated and the scientific innovation that ensures the rejuvenation of the treated teeth during the treatment thanks to the biomimetic function of the nanophydroxyapatite conveyed in the whitening gel.
